plasma versus lcd glare

678 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  s2mikey
I had originally purchase a pioneer 5060, but long story short, still doing work in our new place and had to cancel as not to damage television. Anyways, we live in a loft/condo with 2 12x12 windows in the great room with plenty of light in the room. I was at best buy looking at the pioneer again and came across the new samsung lcd 46". Anyways we both agreed that the colors seemed more natural in the plasma but he said if I have a lot of light in the room that the glare/reflection of the plasma would be too great.

My questions are:

1. Is this true?

2. What do most think of the samsung 46" lcd?

3. Any recommendations?

4. I won't be purchasing until june, is there anything else I should be looking at,

Many thank ahead of time.

My FR is located in the northwest corner of my home and my 50PX50U is basically unwatchable during the day but my 21" wide screen LCD computer monitor renders a bright/clear picture even with direct sun light on it.
I would agree, I had sun shinning directly on part of my LCD HDTV screen many times and it never even bothered me enough to get up and lower the shades. I never had Plasma but I know I can't watch CRT in similar conditions as I watch LCD.

I have a 40XBR1... and it is amazing how the panel performs even with direct sunlight. The bezel was awash with 'golden' color from yesterday's sunset, but there was absolutely no wash/haze effect to the actual panel. Just a beautiful vivid picture!

True... I've experienced the same reflection/washed-out screen problems with my 36" HD ready Panasonic CT-36HL42 CRT-TV.
Heavy lighting OR glare concerns mean that LCD is the way to go. Plasma under certain conditions can provide better overall PQ but under any "stressed" viewing conditions, LCD is MUCH more adaptable.

Good Luck shopping.... :)
