First day I got my plasma and I was checking out some digital pictures from the HTPC. The quality is amazing and the images look so lifelike that my cat Bojangles was getting freaked out. Every time I changed to a new picture his whole body would jolt like he got hit by an electrical shock. Then when I happened across this picture and he REALLY didn't know what to think..

BTW, please excuse the butt-ugly IKEA shelf.. it's a placeholder until the custom shelf we're having built arrives.

Great picture!

My dog (an American Eskimo) sits and watches the home surveillance camera monitor when my wife is out waiting to see her car pull in the driveway!

Looks like a Russian Blue (aka Russian Climbing *****) on the screen. Is Bojangles one of these also?

I ask because we are considering a plasma for our room and we anticipate that Toto, our Russian Blue, would soon be perched atop it. Did you have to take special measures to ensure your set didn't topple?

Actually it's a jpg at 2272x1704 being re-sized to the screen res of 1360x768 (displayed using ACDSee via the HPTV over DVI). Unfortunately the photo I took wasn't the most stable (trying to get the camera out quick) so the sharpness doesn't really come across well. It looks extremely clear IRL. BTW I hope it's clear that the cat on the screen is the same cat looking at the screen! :). I think that's what freaked him out so much.

OttoUnion: yeah Bojangles is a Russian Blue. We're using the TY-ST50K stand and it works great. The cats have never tried to jump on top of it. The plasma is only 3.5 inches wide and it's not totally flat on top - the bezel sticks out a bit, and that part is only 2 inches wide. Cats certainly are wily climbers, but 2 inches of walkable surface isn't much.

edaly,

That's it! After seeing this *****-cat (Russian Blue?) we can't wait any longer and decided to buy the same model and ... a cat too :)

I noticed you have a table stand, does it come as a standard option or is it sold separately?

Thanks

Great pix!
First we had the Steaming Rat method. Then we Polished the Turd. Now, from the people that brought you Crazy Calibrations, comes The Furry Cat, the latest way to get the absolute best picture from your display.

All that is needed is a trustworthy cat, and a copy of Stuart Little.

I was thinking the same thing the second I saw that cat. Two of my cats are shelter rescues. The third is a pure bred Russian Blue, who isn't very interested in my plasma.

Thanks for posting a great picture and sharing your newly found method of reducing the cost of cat day-care.
