I have an HF11 and when I use Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 9 to Make a Movie of any of the following types:

1. 1080-60i YUV in AVI format

2. 1080-50i YUV in AVI format

3. 1080-24p YUV in AVI format

I get jerky playback when I use any of the following software to playback:

1. Media Player Classic (which engages the AVI Decompressor UYVY)

2. Media player Centre

3. Nero Showtime

What is the problem? What should I be using to playback? Should I be creating a new file type instead of these?

GSpot says the following about the file format: UYVY Packed 4.2.2

What specifically are you trying to do/play the file on? Just your computer?

What are your PC specs?

Is there are reason you are using AVI/YUV?

How big is the AVI file after being rendered?

In Sony Vegas, I edited and rendered a 2 minute video, originally shot with Canon HF11, 1920x1080, (MXP/24mbps).

Render settings/custom template in .wmv:
[Project tab] Best
[Audio tab] CBR/Windows Media Audio 9.2/192kbps, 44khz
[Video tab] CBR/Windows Media Video 9/High Definition (1280X720)/Override default compression (checked)/Video smoothness @ 100%
[Bit Rate tab] Internet/LAN: 5M
[Index/Summary tab] N/A

The final output file was only about 84mb. It plays easily in Windows Media Player.

The quality is excellent, it can be uploaded to a site that streams HD/the files size is under 100mb (for a 2 minute video).

This worked for me/maybe you're specific task is different(?)

btw.. my footage was shot in 30p/PF30. It looks good and there is no need to deinterlace.
