I am not familiar with this model. Are you aware that only the most recent Toshiba DVD recorders support + media?

I forgot to mention that the toshiba website and manual claim that it will handle + media.

most manuals also state in fine print? that said players may not always play the discs that are listed as being playable.

yes, I saw that in the manual however:

I have around 150 burnt dvd's.....different brands, different formats (+ and -) and only 2 discs would play in this unit.....

all others would not....going to store now to exchange and try a different machine of same make/model....with fingers crossed that this one was a dud?

4 years ago i had issues with a toshiba 5970 player not playing -rs made on my stand alone tosh dr2; they'd play but they'd stop, show blocky images, audio drop outs, etc.

then i heard panny dvd players were much more reliable with burnt discs so i got a pan. s77. perfect!!

plays all my -rs with no issues.

maybe return tosh dvdr and get a panny dvdr.
