Since the pricedrops recently, I'm torn on maybe getting one of these systems as a second DVD player, as well as a game machine. Of the two, which player has

1) the better DVD playback and

2) more compatiblity with DVD-R.

I want something that I can play a game on, and then slap a DVD-R from my E-20 into to watch the latest episode of the SHIELD or something along those lines.

Thanks!

I don't own *either* of them (though have debated using my Sony credit card bonus dollars to get a free PS2)..

But you do realize that PS2 plays DVDs out of the box, but you apparently need some extra-cost gizmo to play DVDs on an XBox?

Hi,

From reading other posts, xbox should be better. Try a search.

I own both systems and the Xbox PQ is better than the Ps2. PS2 play DVD out the box but has no remote. To play DVDs with the Xbox you need to buy the 20-30$ remote.

(PS2 are releasing Progressive Scan drivers for the System soon) + ( But I think MS should follow soon).

If I can play Xbox DVD Movies upscaled to 1080i ...I will sell my Toshiba 3750!
