Can anyone tell me if this projector placement in the soffit will work?

Sorry for the drawing.

JVC DLA-X500 w/ 120" 2.35:1

Screen = (A) Overall Width - 120" (B) Overall Height - 57" (A1) Viewing Width - 110" (B1) Viewing Height - 47" (C) Frame - 5"

Image size thrown at 1.78:1 = (A1) - 110" (B1) - 62" = 7.5" overspill on top and bottom.

16' throw

Center of lens at approximately 96"

Center of screen at 61" which seems high but I need to leave room for a subwoofer below the screen.

I could also mount the projector under the soffit.

Could also plan for a smaller subwoofer to lower the screen.

Thanks

So I used this calculator with a comparable projector for a 126" 16:9 screen for my 2.35 content and it looks like I would have lots of zoom left to zoom out for my 95" 16:9 content but I would have to offset it 4" lower. Can someone confirm that my calculations are correct?

Projector lens is 4" lower and the bottom of the screen is 7" higher for the smaller screen size.

I just don't want to start construction when I'm not a 100% sure what I'm doing.

You don't list the height of the soffit. You list the lens center at 96" and the screen center at 61". I will assume these are from the floor measurements. That means the lens is 35" over the screen centerline. The screen is 47" tall and half that is 23.5". That puts the projector 11.5" above the edge of the projected 16:9 image. I believe the X500 has an 80% offset. If you take Screen Height/2 *offest % you get 18.8" of potential vertical offset. Both the 16:9 and 2.35:1 screen sizes have 16' with the zoom range. So it looks like you would be good. The only thing I am not sure on is the offset percentage for the x500. I believe it is the same as the RS46 so I used that number to calculate it.

Thanks, it's a 12" soffit and I believe the x500 does have an 80% offset so I think it should work.
