i recently bought a Bravia kdl40w5500u from amazon. it's my first LCD and i was quite chuffed with the display especially after coming off from an SDTV. Until one night when i put a blu ray movie in and i noticed lights on the corners of the set. They travel down the length of the set. I did a bit of research and it appears to backlight.

I only had the TV for 4 days now. What do you suggest i do? return the set back to amazon? call sony? please help!

that is a very common problem with Sony and Samsung TV's

its not the backlight. its caused by the type of LCD panel used in the TV a VA panel and if any amount of pressure or uneven unformity of the panel happens you get what is called flashlights (lights in the corners, what you have) and clouding (light blobs in the middle of the screen)

its pretty normal for these sets and flashlights are often caused by the bezel screws being too tight

if you return it for another it could be better, worse or pretty much the same. its basically a crap shoot
