Hi everyone,

I can buy an elemental designs setup consisting of 2 5tc's and 1 5t5 with an a2 - 250 subwoofer.. for $500 shipped

Or I can get two intimus 4b's and one 4c from aperion for $420 + shipping

This will be used to listen to 2ch music as well as blu-ray movies (i will buy the surrounds a little later !! )

Thanks!

I don't normally jump into these threads other than to read, but if size isn't a factor, have you looked into AV123's X-Series Encore speakers? Right now, for 2 fronts (their price is for a pair), a center, and their sub, you're looking at the same price range. Or you can skip the center for now (make a phantom center instead), that way you can at least get the a2-250 subwoofer. Lastly, if size really isn't a factor, get the X-SLS mid-towers and the center, then save up for a sub and the x-ls monitors for surrounds.

However, if it's between those two, I'd say the Elemental Designs would the best setup. Even though I own Aperion myself (632 fronts, 533vac, and 532 surrounds), the Aperion 4B doesn't appear to go as low as the ED's as far as frequency goes and without the sub, you'd really miss out on both music and movies until you bought it.

The eD system would be better, but if you have the space for it, switch out the A2-250 for the A2-300. It doesn't show up in the package builder, but all you have to do is give Chris or Alex at eD a call and they can make it happen.

I would set your game plan up to later purchase a pair of 5T5's to use as fronts and move the 5TC's to surround duty. This should give you a very nice budget system, with a sub that is anything but "budget". The A2-300 is amazing for the money, with the 15% off package discount, you will be getting it for about $275. Nothing can compete with this sub for $275.
