I have a new pioneer pdp6100hd plasma and all my other equipment is very dated.I only have one hdmi and two component.I have just got digital cable for the first time and it is hooked up to one component. No other items hooked up yet.

my questions

Do i want an upscaling player or will my set upscale it for me?

Do i want to use the one hdmi for the dvd or should i use it for the cable box?

Does my tv upscale everything that it receives to 780p anyway?

Sorry for all the questions, but for someone who has had there equipment for a long time and been out of the loop ,it seems everything has change and i have been reading for months and still seem to know very little.everytime i think i have one answer i end up with more questions.

Thanks

Yes, you should consider an upscaling player and use the HDMI for it (and component for cable). There are numerous threads on the benefits of upscaling players (the player usually does a better job upscaling than your plasma) and which ones to look at in every price range, so the search function is your best friend.
