Please Help... Problem with Mitsu WD-65100

We have a Mitsubishi WD-65100 that we purchased about 3 years ago. About a month ago, the tv stopped working and the power light would flash red and green.

We had someone look at it and apparently there is a part on the Optical Unit that went out. Apparently they don't make this part anymore, so they said we have to replace the entire Optical Unit, which costs $3500!!!

Also, we found out that the Optical unit is made by Philips and they will only sell their parts to authoirzed dealers.

Is there anything we can do about this? We would rather not get a new TV... and paying $3500 to fix this one is absurd!

Thanks.

Unless anyone has any suggestions about the optical unit replacement, I think we will be buying a new tv to replace the mitsubishi dlp tomorrow.

We have a cabinet that fits about a 65-70" RPTV.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good rptv? Hopefully something that is reliable... and will have replacement parts for it available for a long time.

We currently has a set-up that has Adelphia HDTV. I would like to keep it if possible.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!
