Long story short, can't figure out who is correct on this one. I'll spare you the details on that front.

Hypothetical:

You have a pristine 2k scan of a film and a pristine 4k scan of the same film. If they're both encoded down to the same amount of pixels for Blu-ray, 1080p, will the 4k look any better?

I'm not talking about going from a poorly done 2k to a brilliantly done 4k; I'm saying both scans are top notch. Will those extra pixels in the 4k scan actually make a difference if they get downsampled same as the 2k?

Thanks in advance for any help on clearing up this issue.
