Can anyone out there that owns a pair of Paradigm ADP 170s please tell me what they are using to mount the speakers? Speaker stands or wall mounts?

I am looking for something in a wall mount that will work with them without having to drill holes. Also, it would be helpful if it was adjustable and white in color.

Thanks for any help,

I used the hardware that came in the box with the ADP-170s (interlocking steel plates and self-tapping drywall anchors). This does result in two small screw holes in the back of each speaker and two 1/4" holes in the wall. Are you seeking to not put holes in the wall, the speakers, or both? Mounting the speakers high up with holes in neither of them (and without putting holes in the wall to mount a shelf or bracket) is going to be tough. But, here's an idea:

You know those lamps that were popular in the 1950s and 60s that were mounted on a spring-loaded pole that wedged itself between the floor and ceiling? If you cut such a pole 1/4 of the way down from the ceiling, removed a section, and attached two flat padded plates on the middle ends to push against the speaker on the top and bottom, perhaps there would be sufficient support to hold the speaker in the middle when wedged against the floor and ceiling? Might take some creativity to be aesthetically pleasing, though...

There will probably be a slight difference in sound from these dipole speakers if they are not against a wall to resonate and reflect off of.

Thanks for the info,

I just don't want to add any holes in the speaker other than the ones that are there from the factory. I need either a mounting kit that works with the existing hardware or something that will grip them or I can put them on a base that they will stay on. With one of them I could use the existing kit, but I don't have a side wall on one side. I do have a little bit of wall that I could use a mounting kit if it swiveled 90 degrees.

It just seems that every stand is made to hold a smaller speaker or is too short and every spaeker mount has hardware for mounting speakers other than these. Anyone else use anything else with the 170s???

A possible solution is to use an Omnimount ceiling-mount device (one only) which consists of a screw-mounted baseplate/pipe assembly (attach this end to the ceiling) along with a ball/clamp assembly. Instead of attempting to attach the ball/clamp assembly to the speaker (as you do not wish to add yet more holes to your nifty Paradigms), cut and paint a rectangle of plywood roughly the same size as the ADP 170. Attach the plywood rectangle to the Omnimount, swivel/angle as desired, and then attach the ADP to the plywood "mini-wall". A little routing of the edges of the plywood will help it look more finished. Of course, this won't work so well if you have high ceilings....Omnimount brackets are available in a variety of types and are classed by the amount of weight the manufacturer believes them capable of supporting. They do indeed come in white.

Thanks. An interesting suggestion. However, I am not much of a handyman and was looking for a predone option. But I just realized yesterday that I am forgetting the easiest option...Shelves!

I plan on putting up shelves (that stick out from the wall a few inches) and just sitting the speakers on them. I assume that would work. If anyone has any reasons why that wouldn't, speak now or forever hold your peace!

Thanks all,

Gergg,

I use two 1' x 2' plexoglass shelves about 6' above and beside my main listening/viewing spots. I use monopole surrounds. The shelves give me room to experiment with position & angle of the speakers.

I got mine at The Container Store. They're hung on wire mounts that require only 2 holes per shelf to hang. They're supposed to be able to support around 50-75 lbs, if I remember correctly.
