Hey all


I am a newbie newbie

I am looking at buying a Sony 1252 CRT projector and needing a little advice.


I have a Denon DVD 2800 Progressive scan DVD so what i would like to know is the following.


Should i invest in a transcoder to feen progressive to the projector?

should i buy something like a Quadscan Elite to tripple scan the projector?

What would give me the best result i know some of you will say H\\T PC

but that is not the way i would like to go


Please just a little advice

my advice would be to go with the transcoder at first. Most of them are fine, and you most likely will not be able to tell the difference. YOu will most likely be blown away to start.


THen after a while (once you REALLY know how to setup the projector) then think about upgrading to a scaler of some kind. Allot of the finer details will mean more at that point.


In the meantime your DVD will look great, but the TV and VCR will look ****e. so think about a real inexpensive solution for those.

Try cross-posting this in the "CRT Projectors" group so as to better understand the optimum rate to use with your projector. Once you understand this, you should be able to make a better informed decision. In other words, maybe a doubler is all you need but then again maybe 600P or 720P is what optimizes your unit.
