Broken record time again: HK - Pioneer - Yamaha.

Nothing against the place and show...just a better overall value with the 635.

Are you running 7.1? If so, you will want a FW upgrade to fix some problems. If not, you're good to go.

why better amps?
There are at least 3 threads going on this very topic. I agree the 635 is the best of the bunch and is a receiver with double the MSRP of the other two. It is in a different class altogether...

Yeah, I'd hardly condsider that sad.

The only thing that's keeping me from getting a Harmon Kardon right now is it's reliability.

Otherwise I'd already have one.

really
They all smell bad to me in no particular order. ;)
Took a while...but I knew someone would rise to the occasion.
Hi guys,

Has anyone here used both the 635 AND the 1015?

I've read several reviews stating that the 635's EZ/EQ setup is a bit complicated to use, while the 1015's MCACC setup is quite easy. My question is, just how complicated or difficult is the 635 to setup compared to the 1015? Not for the audiophile that has done it time and time again, but for someone that has never done it before.
The HK version is a bit more difficult to set up as it EQs the sub as well. These frequencies are where many room problems show themselves which is why proper sub integration has long been tricky for a lot of people.

The actual process itself is really quite simple. But the necessity to run it several times from various locations to fine tune the results might be a pain for some, I would guess. For me it was no big deal as I like this kind of stuff. And going through it made me more aware of my equipment, its location and things affecting the room acoustics. This kind of knowledge can only be of benefit.
