This weekend I will be buying a 50" TV, but I not sure if I should buy a 1080p set or 4k set. I will be upgrading from my 5 year old 46" Panasonic Plasma TV. The new tv will be for a bedroom. I currently have a Sony PS4, Sony BDP-S6200, and a 5 year old Pioneer AV receiver. Please recommend the best 50" tv's for around $1500?

Personally I am staying away from 4K until it becomes a standard. No sense in spending good money on a technology that there isnt even a niche' for yet, I dont care how good of a 1080P upscalar it is. Blow the cash on the best "gap" LED LCD 1080P TV your money can buy ATM without being stoopid with your money. Wait until the 4K standard matures and is married up with affordable OLED sets in your size preference. 4-6 years or so. Thats my opinion you are free to make yours...

I recently preordered the new 2015 samsung UHD JU6500 48" $999. Seems like a pretty solid 4k performer on paper for the price. Will probably be another week until I receive it and can check it out though.
