I have the 50 inch version of the Sony SXRD LCOS display (KDS-R50XBR1). I've owned it for about 4 years now. I had the optical block replaced about a year ago back because of the splotchy green issues in one corner of the display. Recently I started noticing a dark splotch in the upper left hand corner. Is this a symptom of the bulb dying, or is it the optical block acting up again, or something else? Sony had a class-action lawsuit against them for the optical block issue, and I'm wondering if there is a chance that they'd replace it again if it is indeed a problem with the block.

Thanks!

Not the lamp. Could be dust on the projection lens or defective optical block. Is the dark splotch a certain color or is it more like a shadow?

It looks more like a shadow. It only shows up on light colored scenes. It looks like the extended warranty on the optical block expired last month. I wonder what the chances of getting a warranty on the replaced optical block are.

Thanks for your reply.

If you are feeling brave, take the screen assembly off and clean the lens.
