Having a grand time playing with my new Kenwood VR-507. I got it for 3 reasons:

1) it's got PLII

2) it cost me $275 ("open box special" at CirCty)

3) it's got PLII

Questions about the PLII special effex:

Is the "dimension"control merely a front/rear volume balance, or does it affect front/rear decoding parameters?

What type of material is the "panarama" feature designed for? It seems that it is for recordings that don't have much out-of-phase material in the mix for the decoder to latch onto. Any opinion on the best use for this feature?

Thanx: John

The Dimension control gives the effect of front/rear balance, but it does not actually alter the decoder outputs at all. The decoder's action is smoothest when all the speakers are balanced. So Dimension alters the nature of the source signals feeding the decoder.
