My father managed to plug Input 1(component) into input 3(also component), after which the screen went messed up and now neither inputs work. I couldn't find anything on this anywhere else so I figured I would ask here. The tv is a Sharp Aquos. Is there anything that can be done?

Im surprised that damaged your tv... But if it did, the circuit is likely blown and has to repaired/replaced

That's a first. I don't know whay that would/could happen either. They are inputs, not outputs. I wonder if he mixed the separate cables up, Green (Y) to Blue for example?

First, unplug the set for a few minutes and see if that fixes things,

Second, try a service mode reset (assuming there is one). You will have to search for the service mode access procedure. You can try to ask your local Sharp authorized service shop.
