PLV70 / 20HD, 1360x768, and Linux?

I hope it is OK that I cross-posted this in the Projector forum as well.
Has anyone here configure a Linux PC to display on a Boxlight 20HD? I have been having problems getting the full widescreen display. I'm guessing that this is due to the EDID data showing that 1024x768 is the largest resolution.
Does anyone know how to force XF86 to use a larger resolution? When I enter a custom ModeLine into the XF86Config, the log shows that the mode is "Out of Range". I know that this works under Windows, how do I do this in Linux?
Any ideas?
