PN60F5300 - white noise / artifacts during dark scenes

881 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  jay6784
I have a PN60F5300 plasma TV.

It is only about 1 month old now, but I've started to notice a strange issue that occurs only during certain (dark) content.

All content is coming from my PS4 via HDMI so the issue may be on the ps4 side.
I've swapped HDMI cables, and HDMI ports and the issue persists.

During dark scenes, a white noise / artifact will occur. (many pixels that should be dark, will flicker white). Sort of like a random white dust on the screen. Only certain scenes do this this and it is fairly rare.

The issue is isolated to either the PS4 or TV. (i've removed the AVR from the equation).

It happens on both blu-ray content and streamed content (netflix/hulu).

I have a sneaking suspicion it is the TV...perhaps some defect?
I've gone through all of the TV settings and cannot remove it (turning modes auto/off etc).

Any ideas?

Edit -
This is the same issue - looks like it was HDMI cable related?

It's not dithering. I had the same thing happen on my 64f5300 and the PS4 I purchased back in November. Only with the PS4 did I experience this. Initially there were no artifacts. A week or so later, I noticed the extremely sparse random white noise, most noticeable in dark areas of the screen. I could disable Deep Color on the PS4, and those white speckles disappeared. I swapped out the HDMI cable, and with Deep Color enabled again, I've had no problem since. I can't say for sure that it was a cable issue, or if it was just a coincidence, but I believe we've experienced the same phenomenon here.
