I run the 705’s and they are great for home theater!
What’s your setup?

Just click on the link in my signature for Dark Side Theater. Note, I also run the 705’s off an amp, the Outlaw Model 5000, as these speakers need a good amount of power to sound their best.

Are you bi amping them?

No, I am not. They get plenty of power from the amp.
Ok my parasound is high current and puts out [email protected] [email protected] ohms I’m sure that will be enough then. Do you have any videos of then playing movies?

Yes, that is plenty of power. I don’t have any videos, but everyone who visits my theater are extremely impressed with the sound. Are you considering buying the 707’s? Have you considered the 705’s?

Well I was all set to buy a pair of Monitor Audio Gold 200’s For half Price then I seen the deal for the Polk 707’s and the center channel for like 75% off and thought maybe I would do that. The only problem is I know the the monitor audio’s sound like but have no clue what these polk’s sound like because I can’t go audition them anywhere.

Gotcha. Well, I haven’t heard the 707’s but read the 705’s had a bit better mid bass due to the speaker design (aka better balance) vs the 707, though the 707 can go lower (which isn’t an issue for my setup as I have plenty of subs/bass already). I bought my Polk LSiM speakers without hearing them first but read a lot of reviews online so I was confident they would sound good, and they do once you set them up and run room correction.
I'm not a fan of the internal 100hz crossover. The bass drivers are pretty much wasted when you add sub's to your system.

Ok for a 2.0 system (music) but imo there's no point of going with the towers over the bookshelves in an HT application

MA Gold are leaps and bounds better than Polk LSiM

What kind of data are you basing this on? Polk's LsiM series measure pretty darn well.

The bookshelf LsiMs were measured on soundstagenetwork and measured very good....which is a very accurate indicator of sound quality, probably better than questionable auditions. Heck, people buy B&W speakers after auditioning them...this alone tells us that auditions might not be the best way to select speakers with the best sound quality.

Sound and vision has a few meaurements on the 707 and they looked quite excellent as well.

The Monitor Audio models tested on soundstagenetwork looked fairly decent as well, but would be really hard for me to say they looked any better. The listening window on the Polk's certainly looked better.

I run the 707 fronts 706 center 702 surrounds and 703 back surrounds with Klipsch SA-500 Atmos speakers. My 707’s are being driven by a Parasound A21+ amp. The other 7 are driven by a Outlaw 7000X 7 channel amp. Processing is done by a Denon X3600H 9 channel receiver. I also have a Parasound Halo P6 preamp with HT bypass to run a fairly sophisticated digital front end for music only.
