Hello I’m new here to the forum and have found that this is a great place for advice.

My question is pertaining to some settings in my receiver for crossover settings. An dBevels.
I have my towers set to full band. Center, surrounds ,back surrounds, height surrounds set to 80hz thx crossover and lfe set to 120hz
Are these correct? Everything does sound great just looking for more advice with the Onkyo.
Speakers are as follows
F: Rti A 9
C: CSi A4
LFE: PSW-125
S: F/Xi A4
SB: F/Xi A3
HS Dolby Atmos: proficient Protage LDA5

Unless I'm mistaken those Polk speakers are a 4 ohm load. Crossing the mains over at 80hz along with the rest of the speakers would make life easier for the AVR. And at any rate crossovers set to 80hz is pretty much standard for movies. For music I prefer full range and no sub. But thats just me.

Looks good. You can also try the fronts crossed over at 60 or 80 and see if you like the sound better. As Knucklehead said that would take some of the load off of your receiver. You may benefit from an external amp too depending on room size, how far you sit, and volume levels. What you may notice is your RTi A9's will sound more powerful with deeper tighter bass.

Set towers to small.

Sound & Vision found the RtiA9's -3db point to be 49hz AND the lowest impedance point to be 67hz, (4.49ohms) so use an 80hz crossover point for them to relieve your receiver of having to push below that point.

Win 1. Since you are now not putting in 20 Hertz 80 Hertz into the mains you are not using up the available low frequency cone movement with bass, so the low frequency cone in your main speaker is able to play its higher frequencies (up to it’s crossover point) much more cleanly. You get an apparent 6dB or more dynamic range. You can play your system louder, and also with less compression distortion in the low frequency driver...

Win 2. Since you are not putting bass into that same driver...This means cleaner mids. By far.

Win 3. You are not sucking current out of your main power amp at low frequencies, so there is more current reserve to play those highs louder.

Win 4. Since the cones are not moving as far at the low frequencies...there is far less current draw by the speakers.

Form what I have gathered, the A9s love power and would benefit from an external amp; especially if you are trying to play them at full range. The Onkyo isn't going to be able to make them truly open up even with other speakers off or disconnected. I agree with the others, set to Small and enjoy the benefits.

AFAIK if you have a subwoofer, you should set the RTi A9's to "small" even though they are towers - doing that, I would have the crossover set to 80hz for those speakers. I have the CSi A4 as well, and I have its crossover at 80hz currently (but people will often set the crossover of the centre channel to 90 or 100hz because it's mainly used for dialogue, so it doesn't need to output very much bass). If it were me, I would bump the crossover point of your all of your surrounds to 100 - 120hz (I would personal go with 100hz for the surrounds, 120hz for the rear surrounds). Your atmos speakers, I would have set to 150hz.
Set all speakers to small As advised. As a general guidelines, set the mains and center at 80hz, the rest at 100hz. Make sure the crossover knob on the sub is set all the way up or bypass.
