Hello Out there, I have been trying to find out if the 8" woofers in the Polk Tower TSx550T are active (actually woofers with coils) or passive (just membranes driven by the mid-bass drivers...)

There were a few dubious comments made about this design and I would like someone who knows to tell me for sure. Has anyone had these apart? Is there wires going to the woofers?

I am leaning towards the ATiA7s as a result of this doubt, and I like the real wood veneer.. and the real woofers...??

They are passive woofers, active would mean the speaker has an internal amp. I think what you are thinking of is bass radiators, in which case those are not what this speaker has, it is front ported.
