Right now I have the R30s as mains with the CSi25 center. I got them years ago for a ridiculous deal ($88 for the pair of R30s and $75 for the CSi25).


I just ordered a CS2 center, which is supposedly significantly better than the CSi25. It seems close enough to the R30s that timbre won't really be an issue. I have the bug, though, and I'm wondering if the Monitor 40 (which matches the CS2) would be noticeably better than the R30.


Has anyone compared the R-series to the Monitor series?

The Monitor series is a step up from the R series. Whether in makes a big enough difference to you, I dunno. I think I'd rather have the Monitor 40 than R30 though.


If you get Monitor 40's that means you'll need stands. Why not just get the Monitor 50's for slightly more.

If you wait another week or two they will have them in black again. Newegg restocks pretty quickly as they are the exclusive dealer for the Polk series II speakers.

these are pretty sweet and not much more than the monitor 40's they're the step up but the previous generation.

That is a good deal, but I'm digging the CS2. It's noticeably better than my CSi25, surprisingly. Making me think the Monitor 40 or 50 will be similarly superior to the R30.
