I have the Pioneer 1019, and it's enough for the Monitor 70s for the normal consumer. If you really want to use the whole 275 (i.e. if too loud isn't loud enough), then you'll need a bigger amp. I'm thinking about powering my 70s with a crown 402D, but haven't gotten to try it yet.
If you do choose the Monitor 70 route, sign up for Newegg's email list. They often have them for under $200 each w/ free shipping. Mine came delivered with a tiny amount of shipping damage to the grille, but it's hardly noticeable and only cosmetic.
