Has anyone installed these in a drop ceiling? After getting these they seem heavier than expected I have an Armstrong drop ceiling with 12"X12" tiles and I am now not sure if the weight of the speaker is safe for the tiles.  Any tips on installing also would be appreciated.

The trick with drop ceilings is to to use wire to support the speaker.


In other words, cut the hole, mount the speaker, then use more of the same wire that holds up the frame to hold the speaker to the hooks that support the frame.


Easiest way to imagine it is that if the ceiling fell, the speaker would stay in place

I installed these in a 2' X 2' drop ceiling and like what joeworkstoohard said wire the track around the tile and I also used a 1/4" plywood panel the same size as the ceiling tile to back it up and prevent any future sag since these are heavy if things shift.
