The room is 15' x 15', 9' ceilings. I'm in a condo, don't want to piss off the neighbors but still need some bass.

Will the TSi500's give me what I'm looking for or leave me desiring more? They will be used 90% for TV, Blurays, and PS3.

Thank you!

The Monitor models on newegg are the same speakers with a older style cabinet for a fraction of the price with free shipping.

Out of those two choices I would certainly go with the TSi 400's with a sub. As mentioned, I would really get the Monitor 60's since they are a lot cheaper. I actually got the Monitor 60's from newegg not that long ago and am extremely happy with them, espeically for the price.

Thanks all. I'm getting employee pricing from Best Buy because a friend works there. I can get the TSi400's for $160 each and the TSi500's for $210 each. They don't offer the Monitor series anymore.

The local Bernies going out of business sale has Monitor50's for $95 each, but they don't have any 60/70's.

Also, could I match a CS1 with the TSi's? It's much smaller (easier to mount for me) and cheaper.

Newegg has the Monitor 60's for $150 and the Monitor 70's for $200 and you don't pay tax. Plus newegg has great service so I am not sure why you would pay more money for the same speakers and pay tax. Unless you want the new cabinet design specifically.

It comes out to a $30.00 difference. $30 is $30, but for convenience of having them the same day and if anything goes wrong I can bring them right around the corner to the nearest Best Buy.

I think the newer cabinet design is much nicer, and probably worth the $30.00 difference in itself. Thanks for looking out though!

If it was me I would say TSi 500 with sub, but if your budget can't do that then do TSi 400 with sub.

Which will produce better sound ?

A pair of Polk Audio TSI500 without a subwoofer

or

A pair of Polk Audio TSI400 with a Polk Audio subwoofer PSW125. "Its 12" driver and high-current 150-watt amp add plenty of bottom-end to all of your music, movies, and video games."

P.S. I am making a purchasing decision and I have until Feb 23rd

A sub is less important for music. But for movies and gaming, you definitely need one.

Meanwhile, the PSW125 is very pricey for what you get. Consult with the Budget subwoofers discussions, opinions and questions thread on the AVS subwoofer forum. You should be able to get something better for your money.

Finally, the Polk TSi and the Polk Monitors available at Newegg are different variation of the same speaker line with almost identical SQ, but generally cheaper. For example, the Polk Monitor 75T are $219 ea after promo code at the moment.

The TSi500s don't dig much deeper than the TSi400s (38Hz @ -3dB vs. 44Hz @ -3dB) so - IMO - you're better off with the 400s + a sub.

Re. the CC speaker: According to Polk, the CC speakers for that series are the CS10 and CS20. I'd go with the CS20 ($169 at Amazon.ca).

As for the sub, I'd save up for a decent one. The Klipsch RW-12d - when on sale for ~$300 - is a very popular choice. For $499, shipped, the SVS PB-1000 or SB-1000 would be good choices.

holy thread necro!

I just bought two monitor 75t's, pair of 45b's, and got free polk psw111 sub for $609 after codes on newegg. While it might not be best sub EVER. it will destroy my current onkyo htib 8" sub.

Thank you cel4145 abd eljaycanuck for your immediate and helpful feedback!!

Basically, according to what I now understand I may be losing the prestige of not owning a pair of TSI500 but I will not be losing much aggregated quality sound

Now based on your combined relevant feedback my plans have changed. I need to decide if I will now purchase:

A) a pair of TSI400 and a subwoofer for a special bargain

or

B) a pair of Polk Monitor 75T from Newegg ($209.00 each is a great deal- thanks for the tip!!!)

or

C) a pair of Polk Monitor 75T from Newegg and a center channel from newegg

I am researching (I welcome all comments) if newegg will permit me to purchase a Polk Audio New Monitor 25C Two-Way Center Channel Loudspeaker for $169.00 center channel to match the timbre of the Polk Monitor 75T. I do not really need the center channel for my listening needs but I will purchase the 25C if I receive a subwoofer for free.

$169.00 + $209.00 + $209.00 = $587.00 plus a subwoofer sounds like an awesome dream.

Given:

Before today, I was planning to purchase a pair of the TSI500 but I found out today that Polk corporation with give you a free subwoofer valued at $300.00 that can be applied to another Polk subwoofer if I purchase at least $499.00 of qualifing Polk equipment. Amazon and Crutchfield advertise this offer for Polk. Expires Feb 23.

I can purchase a pair of the TSI400 ($299.00 each or less) and get a PSW125 for $49.99 ($349.99 - $300.00).

I hope the Polk Audio New Monitor 25C Two-Way Center Channel Loudspeaker works with the Polk 75T. Information was gathered on a thread from the web. (I welcome all comments)

Thank you Threefiddie!! - for verifying the match for the center speaker which is the 25c for the monitor 75t. Also I appreciate that you tried to save me some money with additional promo codes. The additional promo codes seem to be for the black 75t and black C25 speakers only.

Currently in my Newegg shopping cart I have a pair of cherry Monitor 75t, a cherry center channel 25c, and the black free sub. I wish I could switch the sub with another sub but I cannot switch out the sub using Newegg. The Total price including shipping is $647.42. .

According to the Polk corporate website the Monitor 75t retail for $499.00 each and the Tsi500 retail for $399.00 each so I should be feeling like I am getting a great deal. I am left wondering if it was a marketing blunder that I hear so many reviews about the Tsi500 and hardly any reviews about the Monitor 75t. According to Cel4145 "with almost identical SQ."

The reason you see more reviews for the tsi's is because they have been on the marker for far longer then the New Monitors, which have only been on the market for a few months, I think around oct or nov last year is when I first starting seeing them.

As far as I am concerned, the New Monitors, Monitors series i's, Monitor Series ii's and TSI's are all so similar in design, and sound quality that you could read a review for any one of the models in each speaker line and that review will be relevant for the comparable models in the other lines. Despite slight differences in cosmetics and very slight changes in crossovers, they are all virtually the same speaker.

I would of liked a bigger or another sub as well. I'm going to try it out. If I don't like. I'll sell it and buy one I really want, but I'm hoping it will be satisfying enough for me until my newborn gets a bit older
