For entry level HT, mainly movies in a condo.

I just picked up a pair Monitor 50's ( one new, one floor model ) @ $49.99 each. But i just found a pair of refurb Sony SS-F6000 @ around the same price, which makes me doubt my purchase.

The Polks are only 2 way, while the Sony's are 4way.

Should i return the Polks and get the Sony's instead at that price?

Thanks!

That is a pretty amazing price on the Polk speakers, which usually go for several times that price.

They sound a LOT better than the Sony speakers IMO, which are very cheaply made with low-quality components. A 4-way speaker is actually a disadvantage in a very cheap speaker, because the crossover components are going to be poorly matched and with 3 crossovers it will be a sonic mess.

My advice is to stay with what you have and be very happy that you got a spectacular price.

The Polks are good speakers for the money. The Sonys--meh.

Plus, you can expand the Polks with other speakers from the line into a 5.0 setup, such as a matching center channel or upgrading to a better tower (the Monitor60 or 70) and moving the 50s to the rear. Your options are much more limited with the Sonys. I don't believe that the Sonys even have a matching center available.
