I have 2 questions.....

First, for current owners of a 75-inch OLED:

1) If your 75-inch OLED broke and you had to change to either a 65-inch OLED, or 75-inch LED (price Would be at least as much as the OLED), which would you take?

Second, for current owners of a 65-inch OLED:

2) IF your 65-inch OLED broke and your OLED brand’s company offered you a new 65-inch OLED or their best 75-inch LED, which would you take? (Note: the LED would cost at least as much as the OLED)

#2 is an interesting questions because I found myself in that exact situation in December. Went to Best Buy for something and saw either the TCL 6 series or 8 series 75" on sale for $1600 I think. Which was actually 200 less than what I got for my 65" CX. I was super impressed with the picture, in store. Looked better than any QLED from Samsung or any other display. The demo they had on handled blacks very convincingly. That being said, I kept my CX. But it does give me hope for the future.
Right now, the best bang for me, for the buck, is the LG OLED.
I have absolutely no interest in an LED for my viewing room and viewing habits (fairly light-controlled room, no gaming).

Would you mind telling me a bit more about what you mean by “fairly light-controlled”?

Also, which size OLED are you using?

I have a 65" OLED. It's the largest display that will fit in my wall unit.
I watch mostly at night, in the dark. When I watch during the day, I can close the room-darkening shade on the windows across from the display (the only windows in my viewing room). Ambient light comes into the viewing room from the kitchen (there is no wall between the kitchen and the viewing room), so it's not completely dark during the day, but not very bright either. My OLED was professionally calibrated, and I have 3 modes to choose from: Settings for a dark room (which I use at night), for a bright room (which I never use), and for in-between (which I use during the day).

I'll take a 75QN90A over a 65"Oled!
Which OLED do you have right now?

Oh, so you just hit a button and your tv changes all its settings based on the situation you’re in. That’s cool.

You said that during the day you “can” close the room-darkening shade. I also have this choice. Do you feel that you kind of need to do that though? When it’s bright during the day, do you find its difficult to watch without the shade closed?

Vizio 65" H1 Oled!
I prefer a bigger panel but it would have to be something close to Oled ,I think the 75QN90A Comes close!
I have an LGE6 3DTV 65" OLED 2016 model - you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands before I switch to an LED. I say the words in my head every day, even after 4 years of ownership - I LOVE THIS TV. I also have a 48" Samsung 4K HDR TV in the same room as a computer monitor which is a lot newer - it's just not the same. If you're looking for image quality, and you have a light controlled room - go OLED, if you want size, then sure go bigger with LED, but not for me.
Even with the size difference, I would stick to the OLED

OLED for sure. Unless your seating distance is so far away that 65" is too small.

I did this. I had a 75" Sony LED that I broke moving it. Replaced with a 65" LG OLED . Love the black level with the OLED but the size meant that I had to be closer to the screen to see some things - like the data in a F1 race that was posted on the side. Will probably replace the OLED with another 75" Sony I have in my home theater when I upgrade that TV.
65" OLED.

The 75" LED has to be something like Z8H / Z9J.

I think I would be happy with a quality LARGER LED even though I have a plasma and two OLEDs as my personal reference. When I briefly had a LED, I didn't mind it at all. Only upgraded to OLED for size. I actually regret going from 55" LED to 65" OLED instead of 75" LED for the same money. Size matters more than you realize.

On a more extreme comparison, I prefer my current 77" OLED more often than the 106" 4K LG projector. The colours in that comparison is so much better. Modern LED is "good enough" and maybe a 100" LED would have been the better move than the complexity of a 106" projector + 77" OLED.
I had a 55” OLED in a light controlled-ish room, sitting about 5’ away. Moved to a new house and I was sitting 10’ away. Sold the OLED and bought a 75” TCL 6 series LED and I’ve never been happier, but my life situation no longer really fits an OLED. I have two young kids who both use the TV, so I’d have constant anxiety about burn in (my 55” C7 got burn in that was replaced under warrant at 52 weeks). I also now am in a very bright living room with lots of windows, so the benefits of an OLED would be largely lost on me.

So I’d say, depends on your situation, room, viewing distance, etc. But for me when I was faced with this choice last year, I went 75” and I haven’t regretted it.

Yep - thats me. I do have room for a larger display and eventually I'll upgrade. Ive pondered the 85" premium LCD option but it just isnt going to work. Im too used to emmissive displays(plasma, OLED) and their performance in darker rooms. Lets be honest here too, its not as if OLEDs are terrible or even bad in brighter rooms. They just lose out to the high-brightness LCDs by comaparison. Most of my viewing is movies/TV shows and that takes place mostly early evening/night. OLED is it for me.

To the OP - its tough to go down in size. TVs are always shrinking and going up or at least staying the same size is preferable. The PQ of the 65" OLED will beat out a 75" LCD but the extra ten inches is worth something, no question. Hard call to make but as I said - OLED for me.

I tend to agree with you about the OLED and room lighting. I think it will be fine for me.

I had a 75-inch Samsung LED before, and I enjoy the size. I recently had a 65-inch where I was staying, but my apartment doesn’t have anything. I’m getting it set up and am trying to decide what to get. When I had the 65-inch LED recently I looked forward to getting the 75. However, I have been a big fan of OLED for a long time and I’m willing to get it even though I want to start gaming. Burn-in scares me, but I’m willing to go for it. I just don’t know if my love of OLED will be more than I love 75-inches. Haha.

How far are you sitting from your 65-inch OLED?
I have a 65" LG C7 OLED and if I had to replace it I'd get another 65" OLED, either an LG C1 or a Sony A80 or A90. (or maybe a 77" OLED if it could fit in my room space and the seating distance was right). The top of the line Samsung QLEDs are very good sets and the company has made significant improvements in viewing angles. The showstopper, however, is Samsung's stubborn refusal to incorporate Dolby Vision in its sets. Samsung's proprietary HDR10+ doesn't appear to going anywhere so maybe, at some point, the company will relent and add DV capability but until then it's a no go.
