Pool build

958 Views 12 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  xb1032
I am having a pool put in this year ( I HOPE)

I have 3 sets of klipsch aw-650s that will surround the pool on three sides.

I want to build 2 speakers or subs that I can pull out on the patio when wanted/ needed.

The construction has not even started but I want to get going on this so it is ready to go.

I think I am going to buy the nx6000d to power whatever I build.

I of course wanted to build two gsg 21” in any of the sized cabinets. But after thinking about it maybe two of the 18” pa speakers would be better or something else all together

I guess my budget would be similar to the two 21” cabs speakers

recommend something for Me please

Better in what way? Better for your budget?
Budget is some what flexible just wondering what would work/sound The best with the aw-650’s i guess

they will be in a room with a 18‘ glass garage door that only has 8” in ceiling speakers planned (so far) so they could be used there as well
I understand. I'm just curious why you believe an 18 would be better than a 21 in the same enclosure.

the PA460 has a usable fr that is much higher - idk really or i wouldn’t be posting lol
Do your neighbors a favor and forget using subs outside. Bass travels, and having large subs outside, playing at high decibels, will induce your neighbors to invest in a shotgun, which they will then use on your subs or on you, depending on their mood (which won't be good, given the constant thump).
I would put locking casters on the bottom so it would be easier to roll the subs in and out of storage. Pre-wire their locations and use weather rated receptacle enclosures and mount a Neutrik NLT4MP Speakon connector for easy connection.

I have over 3 acres with buildings on three sides of the pool.
It is also well established with various pine trees which should also help a little
None of the neighbors have less than a acres as well.

I know when turned up it will still be noticeable but I am not going to be obnoxious about it either.

I go back and fourth on casters - they can always be added later too.
Thanks for the tips.

Seems like the cheapest way to get me started in building my own. What do you think or did I forget anything?

I wanted to get gsg but it would be a lot more $$ and if these go well maybe I can upgrade and get some of theirs in the future.

For music I think I would save the $ and just build a couple VBSS' using PA460s. You'll only need 700-800 watts so 3000D would probably suffice.

I’m not interested in cutting any of the wood at this time.

its well within what i was thinking of spending. I just still wonder if I would be better off with the pa460s or even a smaller sized speaker more full range - although i do plan to use them with a 8k tv i just picked up as well
If music is the priority PA460s for sure but I'm not sure what box I'd put them in. If you want more balance between midbass and low end I'd go for the LaVoce SAF184.03s in a Mini-Marty or something. The price is still $285 on those but I'd expect the price on those to jump up soon like everything else. The UM's are geared towards low end.
