I was just playing around with my HTPC for a moment and tried my "Finding Nemo" DVD for the first time in MCE.

To my surprise, the image quality was very poor. Its hard to describe, but it was almost like the image had been resampled to 200x200 (say) and then back up to 848x480 again. The picture was quite blocky and had dreadful jagged lines on any edges.

So I tried loading up Zoom Player instead to see if that made any difference, and the picture was superb - none of the faults mentioned above. Really crisp and clear, no blockiness and no jagged edges.

I don't understand why there should be such a big difference? I am using the Dscaler DVD codec in both MCE2005 and in Zoom. So I would have thought the picture would be more or less the same. Admittedly, I am using VMR9 Renderless in Zoom Player, but I wouldn't have thought that makes that much difference, surely?

Does anyone know why its not the same - and how to fix it?

Thanks

I should add that the PQ is just fine in WMP10 as well.

Its only in MCE that the PQ is really bad.

Any thoughts as to why? I would have thought that PQ in MCE and in WMP10 would be the same?

Cheers
