So, I do not know if this is a decent idea or a terrible one, I am sure it is probably one of the two. Anyway, I would like to cover my front left and right speakers, sub, and other things so they are not visible in my basement ht room. I have a 65" plasma so I might need to keep the center speaker visible, but would like to hide other things. My question is that if there is some sort of a drape/curtain material that will not change the sound coming out of the speakers that I can hang in front of what I want to hide (speakers, etc.), but behind the tv itself? When a movie is playing, I just want to see the screen and thats it. But, it is a family room in the basement, and I do not what a permanent wall in there for resale value purposes. Thanks.

Most things you place in front of your speaker will change the sound slightly, and this include your speakers grills. What you will want to look for will be some sort of acoustic fabric like GOM. I'm not sure if "draping" the fabric would create any additional artifacts over just pulling it tight.

GOM comes in a decent selection of colors and some patterns, but if you want a larger selection of more drape like fabric take a look here:

edit:

Here is another thread talking about the same thing with an interesting link at the bottom:
