I recently built a HTPC with the following components & found the PQ far less than my Sony DVP-NS700P progressive (comp. out) - i.e. muted colors, less sharp.

I was told that it may be noise from a cheap power supply (I will scope it). I've played with Powerstrip & proj. settings to no avail

Could it be simply be a poor DVD drive choice?

I was also told that there are many other tweeks such as windows registry - any news on this?
