Greetings,

Been lurking for a few weeks. Nice forum http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif Very political at times, but very helpful. OK, on to the issue...

I recently purchased an DST-3000 which hooks up to a Toshiba 40H80 RPTV. The satellite portion isn't hooked up yet(I'm installing tomorrow). I hooked up regular boring analog cable to it since I will be using that for local channels anyway. The problem is, when I use the STB to view cable, it looks extremely grainy. I have tried using s-video, and component video and they both equally look like crap. The interesting part is, when I just use the cable connectors, the quality is much, much better(as good as cable can get). Am I missing something here? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

I just noticed something that wasn't clear. I said that when I use the regular cable connection it looks fine. What I left out was, the cable connection is still going through the STB but I'm not using the APG to change channels anymore. So the only difference is, the cables. I am having a hard time believing that a crappy coax cable is producing a better signal; than my component or s-video cable. btw, I tried a much better quality component video cable just to be sure, same grainy picture.

OK, new info. Everything looks great when the STB is off. As soon as I turn it on, the picture immediately goes grainy. This is strictly with analog cable at this point. I'll find out tomorrow if it is with Satellite too. If it is, then I will assume a defective box http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif
