Popping when digital signal changes...NAD T753

2634 Views 13 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  BuckoNZ
I have a NAD T753. When i put in bourne ultimatum in my toshiba hda20, and it loaded, when my nad jumped back and forth between the digital source, it made a loud pop sound. It has done this now a few times with different dvd's. I'm not sure if it's something wrong with the digital automatic switching in the receiver or not unless for some odd reason it's the dvd player. Also with my dish network vip622dvr, when listening to different programs there will be an occasional popping sound randomly. I hope someone here can enlighten me with what might be wrong. It's starting to become a nuisance. Thanks.

Apparently this is a "universal" problem with NAD's latest genration of receivers and processors (ie. T775, T785, T175, etc.,..) you may want to follow the other respective threads:

My T763 hasn't done that since I did the 2.0 firmware upgrade several years ago. It used to crack and pop a lot when the cable box changed audio signals. I have an HD-A2 but I haven't tried that specific movie yet.

it's not a problem related to a specific moive title/source it's a circuitry issue. Hopefully NAD will be able to correct it with a firmware change soon.
Yeah, i'm pretty sure it's version 2. It's odd because i had it since june 2005 and it just started doing it a couple months ago.

I wouldn't expect any more firmware upgrades for xx3 gen.

No new devices on the same electrical circuit as the AVR?

why would you say this? And would you wish to wager some money on this?

Ok, anything more recent available than 2.05a released 2005-ish?
The only thing i can remember that i added on the surge protector was my pioneer sx-980. They used to be hooked up together before and i never had a problem. I have everything on an apc surge protector, not a ups one either.

Is this a dedicated electrical circuit to your room? For example, my LR also has the halogen deck light on it (yay). This is probably a long shot, but just consider all possibilities since it's a recent issue.

In any case, I would email NAD support and see what they say...they do answer.
yeah, i did contact nad service support about a week ago and no response yet, and yes, they did respond to me in the past
I'm having a similar issue - popping in one speaker every time the digital signal "changes".

My amp is a Pioneer Elite - about 6 years old and worked perfectly until this issue occured about 2 weeks ago:
