Pops during commercials

463 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  VFR
I have a 42 Inch Panny plasma, hooked into my Comcast DVR box through HDMI, on certain HD stations only happens between commercials I get a loud static pop through my speakers. My question is would using a power conditioner stop this I am afraid it will eventually blow my front speakers. Thanks for any help

I have the same set and mine does this also and I am using the component thru comcast box, happens on ota antenna also I've never worried about it.
Do you have sorround speakers hooked up as well?
I get this too, I thought it had to do with the station switching back and forth between HD and SD? Really annoying, because when it switches (that's the pop) then the volume gets jacked up. I wish they would figure out a way to not do this, but I don't really know the technical side of it.

I guess the real question is, if we have dvr boxes, why are we watching commercials??? ;)

I also have the pops with the SA 8300 HD cable DVR. It seems to be when changing between HD and SD for commercials.

I am just worried about it doing damage to my front and center speakers, it can't be good for them.
FWIW I found that the pop corresponds to the exact point that the network station logo showing it to be a digital station blinks off as they go to a commercial.I also noticed that it occurs when going from a dolby digital audio signal to just stereo.I have a cable card with toslink to receiver.
