I have a 5 year old Hitachi 53" rear-projection HD set. Great TV however out of no where in the past week the audio started popping and crackling.....if I turn the TV sound down all the way and just utilize my home theater receiver for the audio there is no problem so it is obviously something with the TV itself.....any ideas ?

Is the OTA tuner having the sound crackleng problem too?

I had this same problem occur after I purchased a new 60" sony high def set; at the same time COX cable installed a new high def box.

So, I wasn't sure if it was the TV or cable box...it turned out to be a combination of the cable company replacing the box 3x (the third one never crackled) and they also redid the coax fittings from the pole to the rear of set/box.


It was very intermittent and would ping pong from speaker to speaker.
