HD DVD seems a loser.....
bah , it's a sad time we live in if the porn industry can decide the outcome of anything (IMO) .

That's a lot of porn on a Blu-Ray disc. :D But seriously, I doubt porn is going to be the driving force for Sony's format. If I want porn, it'll be the "information super high-way." People want convenience.

No, it cannot! 25 years ago, it could decide the war between VHS and BETA, but today, with most porn delivered on the internet, it will NOT decide the outcome of this.

These porn studios "choosing" Blu-Ray is really irrelevant for the time being since all Blu-Ray disc replication must currently be funnelled through Sony, and Sony refuses to work with any explicit content. Even if a porn studio wants to release on Blu-Ray, they can't.

Don't kid yourself. There's a real market for porn in High Definition. In fact, I'd say that all that nudity and sex have more inherent appeal in HD than any other type of content.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Digital Playground yet.

Note the format.

In truth, I think the pr0n format arguments are barking up the wrong tree. The pr0n producers will offer their wares on whatever is popular in the HD world. And for the time being, that's going to be both Blu-ray and HD-DVD, cuz neither will dominate in the short term.
Island Fever 3 is a Windows Media HD disc, not an actual HD DVD.

Do you have a link which confirms this? Why would Digital Playground annouce support for BD if this were the case?
I wouldn't be surprised if they put them on BD9 media.
VHS was revolutionary because it brought porn into your home. That was a HUGE breakthrough 25 years ago but now you can get it anywhere.

Not many people are going to care about the extra resolution on something you're only going to watch for 5-10 minutes anyway.

As with all those Virtual DVDs, I think the object is to make porn as life like as possible for Joe Horny, thus HD is a plus.

so I think you need to revise your view :)

You sure about that?

My understanding was that it is HD-DVD, on dual-layer DVD media, which would still qualify as "HD-DVD". Similar discs can be made with software like Apple's DVD Studio Pro (using H.264) right now at home, and these would work in the Toshiba HD-DVD player. This is different than say Terminator 2's HD support. Correct me if I'm wrong... I don't actually own one of these Digital Playground discs. :p I don't own a Toshiba HD-DVD player either for that matter...

If I'm wrong, then Digital Entertainment is guilty of false advertising.

This is strange - it shows neither the WMVHD logo, nor the HD DVD logo.

I am positive about it since I have the disc and I have the HD-DVD player, and the HD-DVD player won't play the disk. :( The disk will play on my computer, though.
Hmmm... That's lame. Digital Playground should change their packaging and description then, because they call it "HD DVD" and make no mention of the fact that it won't play in a standard HD DVD player.

According to your link the genitalia were pixelated per Japanese practice. "Sadly, the horror of Japanese pornography rears its ugly head as the Censoring Mosaic of Doom is present in most shots, rendering previously arousing genatalia into pixels the size of your fist." I doubt the US porn consumer will stand for that.
