Ported design, using no high-pass filter?

I was thinking about using 4 of the SI HT15s, 2 per cabinet, in a vented design with a Crown XLS 1500 (minimum) or XLS2000. I was wondering if this would be doable without using a separate component for a high-pass filter, like the MIC2200? I'm trying to keep my components to a minimum. I don't want to take up a ton of space with a LLT, but have the tuning frequency around 19-18hz, & just use enough power to keep the drivers from overexcursion.

The reason I've chosen the Crown XLS amps is the many people saying they don't need fan mods, because I don't want to void the warranty on an INUKE or some other pro amp with a noisy fan.

It's a large room (22w X 25d X10h) with large opening to hallways & bedrooms, but I'm not looking to bother the neighbors (too much).

Would this be possible? If so, how much power would be sufficient to dig deep, but keep the drivers safe?

Your box modeling software should show you maximum power versus frequency.

How big is your enclosure going to be? Lets say two drivers in a 8cu ft cabinet tuned to 18hz... with 300w, excursion shoots up at 10hz. I wouldn't feel comfortable using a ported sub without a highpass. Play a movie with deep content and you could damage your drivers.

You need a highpass. Either get an inuke with dsp and fan mod it (it's not detectable if you replace the original fan should you ever need warranty service) or get a minidsp or something similar.
Well, darn. Not what I wanted to hear, but figured I'd ask if it's a possibility. I've read some people on here use no high-pass with no issues, but if it's risky then I wouldn't feel comfortable.

There are no issues if you don't push more power than the driver displacement will allow. Most consumer systems won't, and those that can will sound really bad when you do, which should prompt one to turn it down.

Not said very often around here but it’s the truth! A hp filter can cause a few different things, one being GD going up.

You can do it "simply" with a simple passive if using unbalanced inputs. I believe the crown amps in question those those. Not really "extra stuff" IMO
