How far should speakers be positioned behind microperf screens for optimal performance?

The more distance the better. Try not to go less than 4" between the screen and the speaker. Beyond 12" the increase in improvement becomes less noticeable. I have about 6" between my screen and speakers, and I can not hear a difference between the screen up or down. But, I was not born with golden ears!

My center speaker is placed 6" behind my screen.


I did take the grill off of the speaker; I assume that was the right thing to do. opinions anyone?
