After I learned how to record OTA HDTV program in the hard drive, I wanted to burn the mpeg ts on DVD-R and play it on the dvd player.

I know that Momitsu V880 updates its firmware pretty often, so I email their customer service and requested for technical support.

How many people will be interested to burn recorded HDTV program on DVD-R and replay it on DVD player?

I have the Fusion 2 HDTV card and it comes with a converter that converts the HD TS into a DVD resolution mpeg file so you can burn it to DVD and play on DVD player, but there are no DVD players that play actual HD Transport Streams.

With proper firmware update, I believe Momitsu V880 can play MPEG TS files.

The key is to play 1920*1080 file and not down grade the film to 720*480.

for example, I recorded "Swordfish" from OTA receiver in 1080i, the total file size is 11.2GB. If I break the files into two 8.5 GB DVD DL, I can play HD film through my current dvd player.

some documentaries are 30 minutes long and I can burn those in one DVD-R.

Of course I can use HTPC to do the job, but I want the ability to exchange movies with others without recording all the movies in my hard drive.

This is just like mini DVD, using CD-R to record MPEG2.

I am using DVD to record HD-DVD content.
