Possible to Disable 'Edge Enhancement' on the 437W?

Hey, I while back someone told me it was a setting in the service menu. I don't see anything of the sort (unless it is a numerical option...)

In playing Xbox and GC with companant cables, it's obvious the clarity is excellent (The FMVs in RE:0 are intense!) But whenever it's the regular game, edges look terrible. Dead or Alive 3 was another example. I have heard DOA looks great in progressive widescreen, so I assume it's the TV. Because clarity on some images is excellent, I assume there is something else wrong.

Can anybody help me out? Thanks!

P.S. I have a white dot that's always there when the TV is on. I am getting the set replaced, but I doubt that is part of the problem... Anyway, now is as good a time to tweak the SM as any =)

You have a mirror on the DMD chip that is stuck in the on position.
It didn't seem like it would be that big a problem, but the service tech said they were going to replace the whole thing. It seems unnecessary, but since I spend almost all my money on the TV, I want it in perfect condition.

So is that an easy problem to fix? I was told it was either going to be the whole projection assembly or a new set, and they said they were going to try for a new set...

My main concern in the jaggies in games I know shouldn't have jaggies, since I am getting the same set, and I play a lot of video games.

Thanks for the reply!
ninjatech, I really don't know the answer to your question, but I too have noticed jaggies when playing PS2 on the 507. I've played these same games on a 65" Sony, and the jaggies there were not as bad. I thought this was a byproduct of converting the 480i signal to 720p, and not necessarily anything to do with edge enhancement. If you find out a user or SM setting to make things look better, please let me know.

You might try the Xbox or GC through S-Video or composite cables, just to see what difference that makes. Have you tried the Xbox on both Component 1 and Component 2? Have you tried any 720p Xbox games yet? I think Tony Hawk 4 is 720p. That should look amazing on your 437W.
I am using componant cables for both the GC and Xbox. What gets me is the FMVs on the GC are INCREDIBLE, the only time I see jaggies is when somethign is rendered and moving on a static background. It's obvious the TV can display better. I will try Tony Hawk now and let you know the results, but I am almost positive DOA3 is both 420P and widescreen, but it looks pretty bad in game (the backgrounds and textures look great). I will certainly keep you posted on my progress!
I've played DOA3 on that Sony 65" I was talking about, and it looked AMAZING. That is a bummer that it doesn't look very good on the 437.
On the IGN message boards is where I heard about it looking awesome on a samsung DLP (I am not sure what size) But after the guy mentioning he had to disable edge enhancement, I have not been able to get a hold of him. I dunno if he was full of it, but not everyone is on the message boards as often as me =)
