I am a rookie in HT myself.

I just bought my first receiver and 3.0 speakers.They are too insignificant to post anywhere else.

So I decided we need thread where rookies liek us can post purchases as we slowly build our systems.

We may not know much about speakers but I guess we can share our joy and frustration.

Rules:

1. Recent setups and purchase only.

2. Post speaker details but no prices. We can PM each other if we want to know where an how to buy.

3. Pics would be great

4. Keep in friendly. It is not a competition.

I went with Onkyo 707.

I may not need all the power and features but I thought about the future.

For speakers I bought Klipsch B3 book shelf speakers and C3 center for a simple 3.0 setup.

B3s have great reviews and have decent bass handling.

C3 is a beast and has good bass as well.

My apartment is a mess. I need stands for all of them. C3 does not even fit in my TV stand. :-(

I cannot post pics until fix this messy setup.

I think I spent more on receiver and ran out of budget on speakers.

But I can always add speakers right?

I am looking to add sub first and then rear surrounds.

Wow - that is really nice upgrade.

RC-64 must be a monster.

I never had enough budget to afford reference series.

But then I only have a apartment to fill with my Synergy series speakers.

I bought the Onkyo HT-S6100 and used it for almost a year while I saved up enough for a minor upgrade.

My setup now is:

1. Onkyo 667 receiver (original Onkyo HT receiver);

2. Klipsh RC-62 center (bought used from e-bay);

3. Bic Acoustech pl-89 fronts;

4. Bic pl-66 surrounds;

5. Bic Pl-200 sub;

6. Mirage Nanosat Prestige rears.

All are horn-loaded except the Mirages. Lovin' it.

Well, I am building a new house with a dedicated HT room, so I went a little overboard... Yes, the RC-64 is a monster! But, I've been hungry for great sound in my home for a lonnnggggg time.

i used to have a Samsung HTiB but upgraded to an Onkyo SR-805 and the BIC Acoustech PL-89 Mains, PL-28 Center, PL66 Surrounds, and 2 PL-200 subs. im sure theres better around but it works great for my room and budget.

the horn tweeters are not bright at all imo. the PL-89s dont really have much bass on thier own. all in all im happy with what i bought.

my dream system would have much more power and better speakers but thats how it goes.

I use to have a sony HTib speakers and a Sony receiver from ten years ago. I upgraded the receiver 3 years ago to the Onkyo 605. And last week I upgraded the front 3 to Paradigm Monitor 7's and Paradigm CC-290. Still using the sub and surrounds from the sony htib until I figure out what to replace them with. My tv is the Samsung UN55B8500 LED.

So far, speaker wise, I've only purchased the Take Classics 5 pack ( http://www.energy-speakers.com/na-en...pack-overview/ ).

(I guess I'll stick with what I have backordered, the BIC F12, for the sub to make a 5.1 system http://www.bicamerica.com/showpage.p...pe=8&spkrID=84 ).

.

Today I found out I'm only 45 minutes from this place http://www.parts-express.com/locations.cfm .

So, later on down the road for myself, I think I would like to try making a DIY type of speaker set from them. Something like this http://www.parts-express.com/project...fm?project=Dht . and then this http://www.parts-express.com/project...?project=Drake

.

And then maybe a pair of bookshelfs like this seem like they could be really nice... http://www.parts-express.com/project...project=USHERs . But that's probably a whiles away.

Onkyo NR-1007

2 Klipsch RF-63s

1 Klipsch RC-64

1 Klipsch RPW-10 (got it real cheap)

Finally decided I needed a better entertainment center for my apartment so I got a 50" plasma. Once that happened some speakers were necessary. Probably went a little overboard but wanted something that would last and I don't have room for the surrounds right now. The sub is pretty weak but manages for the time being. The RF-63/RC-64 front stage is an absolute wall of sound. The 64 is definitely a monster. I had my plasma sitting on it for a while before I got it mounted to the wall. Almost as large as the floor standers.

I'm currently still running a 10+ year old Kenwood VR 309 - 5.1 HTiB with a Mitsubishi WS-55411 Rear projection TV.

Both are still running great but with the changes with technology and newer consoles and blu-ray players and such I am needing to upgrade my HT.

Just recently purchased a Denon 1910 Receiver. So now i'm working on deciding on what speakers to purchase. What a painful task! All the reading and finding the best sound for your buck. hehe
