Tweaking my new htpc is giving me a headache! I previously used a Mpact2 all in one mb without problem. here is my current setup:

Soyo 440zx mb

celeron 533 oc to 800

256mb pc133 ram

geforce 2mx 400 agpx2, 32mb

hercules fortissimo2 audio card

maxtor 5400 rpm 20gb hdd

i/o magic 12x dvd rom

Win ME os

currently trying to get it all set up on a optiquest 15" monitor

Power dvd 3.0 oem version (came w dvd rom)

powerstrip 3.0 set to 960x540 60hz

got powerdvd to start at bootup. the problem is when i try to play any dvd, it pauses after about 5 seconds. the only way to get it going again is to fastforward, then play again , but it will pause again the same way.

help?

I have never had this problem. I have had many others.

Keep asking questions and eventually it will get solved.

Try this. only a guess as sometimes it seems to work for me.

Uninstall power dvd and then reinstall it. See if this does anything.

Does it pause at the exact same spots, or is it somewhat random?

Make sure you have DMA turned on for your DVD drive.

If that's not the case, try the video diagnostics that come up when installing PowerDVD. What are the frame rates?

Also check that hardware acceleration is checked. (If you haven't already get DVDGenie at www.inmatrix.com to do quick registry settings for any Software DVD player).

you also may want to see if it is the OC of the CPU. I assume you already know that when OC the CPu, there is a greater chance of instability in the system.

Hope this helps

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Pdvd, it still does the same thing. It will play fast forward and reverse but it pauses once I hit play again-every 5 secs.

It does this even if I run the cpu at non oc speed. DMA is enabled.

Thanks for the other suggestions, I will try them. I am hoping not to have to reformat and reinstall everything again.:(
