PowerDVD Intermittent Freezing

1217 Views 0 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  STEAMHL2
I've had this problem since I got PowerDVD. Normally I just sorta ignore it but it would be great to get it fixed. Every 20-30 minutes playback will just freeze for about 30 seconds, then resume. It may skip over a few seconds but will continue fine until it happens again.

I've got the Nvidia PureVideo option enabled but enabling/disabling doesn't seem to make a difference. It seems to be the codec itself.

I've also tried using media player classic with the same codec:

Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD7)

since it offers DxVA Acceleration option in there. Same thing happens.

Should I switch to a different codec? codec conflict?

It seems like it does the job well (picture-wise) but if there's a better one to use with mpc for DVDs I'd be all over it. I would like to get PowerDVD working fine since that's the only codec it can use.

Here are the filters it shows in mpc:

SB X-Fi Audio [DF00]

Video Mixing Render 9 (Renderless)

AC3Filter (SPDIF Passthrough for Optical Out)

Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD7)

DVD Navigator

System Specs:

Windows XP SP2, [email protected], eVGA 8800GTS 640MB, 3GB G.Skill DDR2 800MHz, SB X-Fi Audio, 2x Seagate 320GB (RAID0)
