Hello all,

I've nearly completed my dedicated Home theater. I'm waiting for the carpet to come in next week before I post pics. Anyway I'm looking to replace my subwoofer as it's not "tight" enough for me. I'm on a limited budget as the PJ and construction costs have me tapped out for a while. I'm currently driving an Atlantic Technology System 350 with a Denon AVR 5700. Can anyone recommend a subwoofer in the $500 range? I'm not afraid to buy from the internet :).

Good god do I have the solution for you! I just bought one and I really can't stress enough how good this sub is! It is tight, deep, and hits incredible hard. The sub I am talking about is the HSU Research VTF-2. It is exactly $500 and is a bargain. I bought one and I am hearing sounds I have never heard before! I really highly suggest it! :)

If you are looking for tight and musical it's pretty hard to beat the Hsu VTF-2. Lots of deep slam for Movies too. The Adire Rava is another highly regarded choice in a sealed sub for about $399.00. I personally bought a Hsu VTF-3. I'm very pleased with the Hsu. :)

Thanks for the input! I started to look at the SVS support thread but keep going back to the HSU. Before I take the plunge, does anyone else have any input?
