BTW...I've scoured the meta-faq and the forum, no answers yet.

I *finally* got a few custom resolutions to sync on my Pioneer RPTV by reducing the vertical total to 1103 lines instead of the 1125 recommended for 1080i timings . I got 1776x1000i and 1920x1080i to sync (beautifully, but I can't seem to reduce overscan without dropping the signal out of sync) but none of the 540p timings will work. 480p based timings work fine.

My setup is:

Win2k SP2

Radeon PCI 32MB SDR, 3281 Drivers

Powerstrip 3.02

AA Transcoder

Pioneer 532-HD5 RPTV

I have found that the Pioneer is somewhat tolerant of horizontal scanrates below average specs (ex. 33.1 for 1080i); the tv will not sync, however, unless vert scanrates are presicely 30.000 or 60.000 Hz, +/- 0.04 Hz.

If anyone can figure out why 1103 works while 1125 won't, that lead to the right math for 540p timings my set will sync. Thanks for the help.

P.S. - If I try to play a DVD while in 1080i or 1000i, only the top half of the image is displayed, both in windowed and fullscreen modes (ATI v4.1.0). I have no clue why this is happpening either. Computers...can't live without them, can't shoot 'em.:D
