I've (my family) just purchased an Infocus X1 a month and a half ago, and currently I have it hooked up to an old Toshiba SD2109 DVD player via S-video (a 50' run unfortunately, as the minimum length is 35' from player to the projector).

One day out of curiosity, i hooked up my computer to the projector, and used the computer as an HTPC. My dad was impressed at the improvement of PQ over the Toshiba.

I also mentioned to my dad about the new batch of 1080i DVD players coming out, but unfortunately, most of them are only 1080i through the DVI output, which the X1 can't use.

Through some research, I found there is the coveted LiteOn LVD-2001 and the LG DV9832 player that will up convert via component.

Will there be a difference between 480p and 1080i? And then 1080i to a HTPC?

Thanks
