As long as you can kill external lights and completely cover windows you can benefit from the NX5 over the epson. Especially if you can zap all external light at night you'd be ok. I'd definitely dump the 0.8 screen and get a pure white or even 1.3 gain type screen instead. The 0.8 is going to work against you where you have less light on the NX5 vs the Epson.I am interested in any feedback on my situation. I currently have an Epson 6040ub and am very happy with it, but like many out there, I am thinking of my next upgrade. I am drawn to the JVC NX5 for all the obvious reasons, but I do not have a dedicated theater room (i.e., bat cave). I do have relatively good window coverings and light control, am using a 0.8 grey screen, and watch mostly at night. But I am not sure if I would be wasting money on the NX5, as my room cannot achieve the optimum lighting conditions.
Is the NX5 lower's lumens (compared to the 6040) an issue as well for my setting?
I basically have narrowed my choices down to the NX5 or wait whatever Epson releases in the future, such as a 6060ub (as I do not believe the 6050ub is enough of an upgrade to justify the cost).
I researched this forum and read reviews on the NX5, but I really haven't found opinions of anyone using it in non-bat caves (which may be the answer I am looking for).
Any input would be appreciated.
