"SEGA's bullet-filled racer returns, but this time exclusively to Sony's next-gen console.

by Chris Roper

May 2, 2006 - Today SEGA made a rather surprising announcement in that its action-racing sequel, Full Auto 2: Battlelines is being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Currently in development by Pseudo Interactive, the series has been redesigned with an assortment of brand-new features. Players will be able to man 25 different vehicle types ranging from classic muscle cars to SUVs and industrial vehicles, and customize each of them with an assortment of more than 20 different weapons, multiple paint schemes and various wheels styles.

A new multi-path single-player campaign allows players to conquer six different districts throughout Staunton City and take control of an opponent's cars and weapons. Multiplayer game types are said to include Team-Play modes as well as classic deathmatch, base assault, and gladiator-inspired competitive play. Of course, the series' Unwreck feature is back too, allowing players to rewind time and get a second chance at taking a tight turn, filling their opponent with bullets or dodging an incoming missile.

"The destructible environments in Full Auto 2: Battlelines are both stunning and strategic, especially in multiplayer combat," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America. "The gameplay innovations of tactical destruction and team multiplayer vehicular mayhem combined with the tremendous power of Sony's PlayStation 3 console makes this sequel truly the next generation of combat racing."

Full Auto 2: Battlelines will make an appearance at this year's E3 next week in Los Angeles, but tune in later today as well have exclusive media and information on the game as part of our countdown to E3 2006.

LMAO!! How lame can SEGA get. Bring it out as a launch title for PS3 hoping people haven't played the first one and will buy it just to have something to play. "Truly next gen", Sega? That's what you said about the FIRST Full Auto. lol. This game will still be horrible.
I found the game to be entertaining. It held us over until Burnout. Not sure if I would buy another version though... especially since there should be a next gen Twisted Metal on PS3.
Who cares the game sucks...It wont open any new eyes it will be lost in the shuffle...

perfect fit for the PS3 "

sorry to ruin your happy day of trolling darth, but looks like the sequel on the PS3 is much improved.

"IGN: Are you working to improve the framerate? It was an issue last time.

Gallo: We're building the game with the PS3 in mind, so in addition to spectacular visual effects, as well as the car and environmental damage the game will run at a solid framerate. Of course, our goal is to be at 60fps for the final shipping game.

"

IGN: Has the sense of speed been improved?

Gallo: In a word -- yes. This has been a focus from the design and art side from the beginning -- it really comes through in the visuals and the small touches like motion blur and camera shakes. We think that people will be impressed with how the game "feels."

IGN: What improvements will be made to multiplayer? The last game really needed a deathmatch -- will we get it?

Gallo: New to the franchise are several new multiplayer modes, including Deathmatch. We'll be able to have up to 8 players online, or 2-players split screen. In addition to 'free for all' style modes, there will also be a host of team based modes for both multiplayer and single player. We'll go into detail on those other modes later in the year, but we have listened to the fans and we think that we'll offer a bunch of fun modes for people to play. For now, our E3 focus was to show off one of the new arena tracks, as well as having some fun with the new deathmatch mode.

didn't mean to troll.

But it is no different than calling the 360 an xbox1.5.

Any developer who is rehashing an already released game on a newer platform better improve something, IMHO.

Besides it is no secret the 360 version was rushed out.

Anyways this game is STILL a perfect fit for the PS3.

It oozes "Playstation".

Oh yeah, there were 3 other posters knocking the game besides me.

:D chickity-check yo self before you wreck yo self :D

Quoting somebody that says the game sucks and remarking perfect for the PS3, pretty much implies a certain message.. Isn't calling an xbox360 an xbox1.5 trolling? I think most would say that is.

I agree, they better improve something, it is a sequel after all with more time to work as well.

my comment had nothing to do with the quality of the game.. I've never played it. It was the implication you made as noted above. My apologies if I took your comment out of context from the quote. ;)

That was my intent about the game, saying it was PS3 material.

The Playstation has had a glut of average to no good games(same for Xbox) since it came out, "next-gen" should be no different.

Very true the pricing was great on the ps2 for games and I get what you are saying. Completely value/bargain bin material.
gotcha.. I'll still try out a demo at least. I guess I was hoping for something of Twisted Metal's quality..

Some would say that (subtley) making a negative Xbox news post on a regular basis is trolling too, like the overheating one that you authored & was just closed. But I digress...

Full Auto was a fun diversion but is it something that will make people line up for a PS3? I doubt it.

Well, if you see the article as being negative that is your perception, based on your history that doesn't surprise me. I didn't make the news, just posted the article. Many people have had issues with their systems.

i have a 360 which needed to be replaced.

i know only two people personally that have a 360. both needed to be replaced.

alongside the daily reports of 360s failing... doesnt seem to be a shining beacon of quality control to me.

I found the article interesting as to how the consumer dealt with his problems as well as the response that MS gave (much more than consumer deserved IMO).

also, the topic wasn't close for "trolling" it was closed as the moderator wanted to stick to gaming.

Let's get back to discussing the gaming aspect of the 360.

Thanks,

Based on my history.

It just seems to me that a lot of your posts in that area seem to have a negative angle against the Xbox & they stick out is all but in this area you don't. I just found it amusing you threw up the troll flag right away.

I never said it was closed for trolling either, only that it was closed.

And it was definitely a negative article for Xbox. in that there have been failues and we have had more than enough threads based on that.
Clearly we see things differently.. I see it as a positive article. The article points out that MS more than adequately took care of the customer (more than he deserved IMO, they gave him gifts and personal attention from Executives.) MS has been giving great customer service to people with faulty units and have extended the warranty as well from what I've read.

"Some would say that (subtley) making a negative Xbox news post on a regular basis is trolling too"

I agree with this, however this is not something I do Dean. If you are trying to imply that I do this at least back it up, that would be easy to do given the tools available...There is zero truth to this statement.

if you followed this thread its easy to see where the misunderstanding was in the "troll" comment.
